OUR FESTIVAL

For the past 13 years, Body & Soul Festival has taken place in the stunning castle grounds of Ballinlough in County Westmeath, Ireland.

No stranger to challenges, the festival cut its creative teeth during the 2010 recession, when wallets were light and creativity was in high demand. Since its inception, Body & Soul has delivered a sold-out event year on year, growing from 1,800 attendees in 2010 to 15,000 in 2019.

For the 2023 event, Body & Soul is doubling down on its commitment to attendee experience; keeping with our significant reduced capacity, welcoming children under 12 back and pouring our energy into creativity.

From secret stages to forest feasts, intimate performances and moments of transcendence, you’re invited to cross the threshold with us in Ballinlough.

Body & Soul truly is a festival full of surprises.

OUR PROJECTS

Beyond the solstice.

Outside of the annual festival in Ballinlough, Body & Soul continues to push the envelope with projects that use the arts to explore the cultural themes that shape us as individuals and communities.

Most recently, Body & Soul produced Ériu, a 60-minute film, featuring a site-specific collection of commissioned works from Irish artists focused on the central theme of liminality, and its resonance with unexpected rites of passage.

Ériu is not a festival, but embodies the echoes of festivals from years gone by, shot on location in its forever home. We’ll be sharing the full feature film again with you soon.

Beyond Ériu, Body & Soul has collaborated with Sounds from a Safe Harbour to create a City and a Garden, alongside producing the Shapeshifters Ball at IMMA, flagship arenas at Electric Picnic, the Solas space at the UK’s renowned Latitude Festival; and connected thousands to the rituals and celebrations that make us human.

Across the year, Body & Soul aims to experiment, provoke and examine the potential for cultural change through collaborative interactions in novel, unifying spaces.

A self-defining creative experience.

Body & Soul is committed to providing inclusive, safe and inspiring experiences.

Through a lens that transforms audiences into collaborators, Body & Soul is an invitation to shake off the cobwebs of daily life and imagine new possibilities for yourself, your community and your world.

The potential for progress through the arts is one we take seriously and practically.
